Cherbeluka's Bio
Born in São Paulo, the capital, Cherbeluka embarked on his artistic journey from childhood, deeply inspired by Rembrandt van Rijn, considered the greatest genius of painting of all time. From the beginning of his studies, his admiration for the old master's characteristic use of chiaroscuro, as well as the warm, earthy color palette, was evident. His work is a hybrid of the academic tradition and impressionism, evolving over time into what is today recognized as contemporary realism.
Cherbeluka's works are known for their high lights and great contrasts, creating a distinct atmosphere. He seeks to capture both movement and introspection, striving to infuse as much emotion as possible into each piece.
Cherbeluka's works are featured in major galleries in São Paulo and Europe, with his career marked by numerous awards and honors. His works are in private collections in countries such as the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy, China, Belgium, Germany, the USA, Spain, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Portugal, Argentina, and Brazil.

Oscar D'Ambrosio, Doctor of Education, Art and History of Culture and Master in Visual Arts, works in the Communication and Press Office of Unesp
The urban universe is a motivator for the visual artist Cherbeluka. In his most recent works, he seeks what is lyrical in walking through the big capitals, in the streets and automobiles as well as in the graffiti scattered around the city. With each painting, our view of space is renewed. What exists in this creative process is the fusion of some important elements that articulate and accumulate with experience and practice. On one hand, there is the experience of the painted elements; on the other, the study and development of a refined technique over time; and still, the search for constant improvement. Painting is not a repetitive activity in which practice alone provides answers. The permanent exercise that makes the creator increasingly prepared to face the most diverse challenges, whether in themes, colors, or shapes - in short, in the interpretations of reality that he makes through his visual manifestation - must be associated with aesthetic thinking. Ricardo Cherbeluka offers urban landscapes, the result of a visual intelligence enhanced by the way he sees the world. His gaze finds beauty and creativity in the most disparate spaces, within the principle that each new painting is a way to confront and solve a visual question. This prevents complacency and leads to a renewed practice.

He creates a magical atmosphere in his art, rich in perspectives with colors, places, and emotions. He invites us to experience situations from the great metropolises and the daily life captured through his lenses.

Nina Simone once said that "it is the duty of the artist to reflect the spirit of the times in which he lives." Ricardo's works fulfill precisely this function by dealing with various subjects and situations that gain special strength on his canvases. His works impact both visually and aesthetically. In the past, he navigated through various themes that denounce the socioeconomic conditions of Brazil. Today, the urban universe is the inspiration for the artist. In his most recent works, he seeks what is playful in the city of São Paulo. Cherbeluka accurately portrays the cityscapes with a unique and personal style. In his universe, the vast concrete jungle becomes more romantic, calmer, and much more beautiful. Nothing escapes his artistic gaze: the streets and tunnels, the cars and traffic, the art, and even graffiti on the walls are the protagonists. With each painting, our view of the space is renewed. This is the result of a visual intelligence refined by the way he sees the world. His gaze finds beauty and creativity in the most disparate spaces, based on the principle that each new painting is a way to confront and solve aesthetic and social issues.
